Deunghwa
The main city, on the south coast, whose hanok quarter is the hunters' stronghold.
Deunghwa (등화, “light of the lanterns”) is the great city on the south coast of the peninsula, and every hunter’s starting point.
A city with two faces
Deunghwa is a modern city bathed in neon. At its heart, the hanok quarter, with its tiled roofs lit by lanterns, is the hunters’ protected stronghold: this is where they get ready, meet up and come back after a gate.
A city used to gates
Since the Day of the Rift, about fifteen years ago, gates have been part of everyday life. Hunters and institutions have their place in the city: the Gakseongcheong assesses the awakened there, and the Bongsu guild posts its contracts.
No gate opens too close to the city.
Heading north
Deunghwa is only the beginning: the further north you go on the peninsula, the more dangerous the provinces become.
